What ammo does your RAP in 6.5 CM like?

Got to the range with my new RAP yesterday. Mainly just to sight it in and start breaking in the barrel. I was shooting the Hornady Superformance 129 gr SST. Bipod, with a small bag under the back. Accuracy was underwhelming. The best group I managed was about 1.3, 1.5" or thereabouts. Made no difference with or without the can, with about a 2" POI shift to the right with the can mounted. I was shooting 3, then cleaning, repeat through 18 rounds, then shot a couple 5 shot groups. No discernible difference to my eye in any of the groups other than called fliers.

I plan to buy 3 more boxes of ammo in various types, but all with Hornady brass, that will give me the 100 once fired cases to start reloading with. What have you shot in factory loads that your RAP likes?

I'm also planning to try and stiffen the stock by filling with rockite, and mount a piece of piccatinny rail in place of the forward sling mount, but otherwise I'm not going to mod anything.

Go with the heavier 140 range bullets.

Have you made sure the stock isnt touching the barrel? Most if not all the stock will touch the barrel and with a little sanding it can be free floating easy.

I've never fired factory ammo so can't help there but mine is sub moa with 120's and 140's. I seem to remember having bigger groups with 130gr. But didn't really play with them much.

Those stocks are really flimsy and a lot are twisted straight from the factory. Your plan to stiffen it should help.

Mine shot decent with the Hornady 120 Amax for the first 20 rounds. My second shooting session I found some 140 ELD Match that seemed to work much better. Two 3 shot groups measured .82" and .48" at 100 yards. I didn't have enough ammo to shoot 5 shot groups but I picked up several more boxes of the 140s for next time. I was shooting off of a bipod and Protektor rear bag.

What can are you running on yours?

Huntertown Arms Kestrel 9. Not real effective, but takes the edge off. Probably going to do a Form One for it soon.

120 gr Hornady A-Max out of my RAP produced 3 shot group covered by a nickel. I did work the forearm of the stock to make sure it did not come close to the bbl. Less than 10 shots on new gun to get this group.

Hornady eldx or eldm. Heavier stuff seems to work better.

I'll take Ruger American Predator for $500, Alex.

The 129 SST groups were as big as a baseball for me. The 143 ELD-X were touching.

120 Amax and the ELD-X both shot good for me.... under 1/2 MOA
