    Redding reloading dies

    hey all,
Curious if the Redding Type S bushing 2 die are worth the exponential extra cost over the standard Redding 2 die set?

If you worship at the alter of precision accuracy- into bench rest or precision long range shooting they are the only way to go. If you hunt out to 300yards, they may not be worth it. I happen to think they're worth it.

I am in the process of replacing all of my bolt rifle dies with Reddington.

      I love them.

Even their standard dies have less inconsistency and less runout than any of my other dies.

I bought a set for my 22-250AI and agree with the above. It's another level of fine tuning.

In reality, hand loading is just an exercise in tuning so why not add to it.

Ironically, I was just measuring a loaded wildcat case and sitting down to look at midway for a bushing die that will work.

So...would you gents recommend... and this a hunting rifle, but I don't mind spending the extra coin if it is justified - even if it might only be incrementally better.

I would recommend the 2 die set of the type S that comes with the bushing full length sizing die and the micrometer seating die. No neck sizing only die for me. I'm on my 8th firing of my lapua brass on my straight 284 as I anneal my necks on my brass plus I bump my shoulders with my full length die .0015. Much quicker and easier to set in my humble opinion. And, yessir, to answer your question they are worth it. You can get custom dies but Redding makes a mighty fine one.

Redding (darn auto correct got me earlier)

Offers micrometer seating plugs for most dies for either standard profile and VLD bullets.

I call their handy number, and the very helpful person will get me set up with the correct part number.

I use them when I need precision. It's between those and the forster micrometer dies for me.

Depends if you are shooting a semiautomatic or bolt gun.

Semiautomatic get a small base sizer/decapper and micrometer seater.

I agree with Blake, be it a redding or forester I won't go without a micrometer seater die. It makes precision adjustments a breeze.

FYI- you can buy the micrometer seater head and stem then install it on any redding die. Well worth the $38.
