    270 bullet and load

Looking for recommendations for my Remington 270 win. Currently shooting off the shelf ammo (Nosler BT and Remington Corelok, but looking to reload.

Been shooting 130 grain, so looking to stay with that. What powder and bullet combination do you prefer. This is for Whitetail and hogs anywhere from 100-300 yards.

One of mine really likes IMR 4350 w/ Barnes TSX or TTSX

Here is my latest load for my Gun Savage 110 270 Win. I typically shoot Sierra Game Kings with 54 Gr of H4350 but could not find the bullets last time I loaded.

      Winchester Brass.
      Winchester Lrg Primer
      51 Gr H4350
      Hornady 140 gr BTSP

        My Browning A-bolt....

pretty much likes any bullet I use. Loads have always been nearly identical, just change the 130 gr. bullet and the seating depth.

        Remington brass
        CCI 200 Primer
        55.0 gr. IMR 4350
        130 gr. Nosler BT
        130 gr. Speer Grand Slam
        130 gr. Sierra BTSP

My favorite load has changed to the 140 gr. Hornady BTSP. Load info:

        Remington brass
        53.2 gr. IMR 4350
        CCI 200
        140 gr. Hornady BTSP

        Hope this helps

Almost forgot... my velocities with the 130 gr. have all been in the 2950 fps range. My 140 gr. load is at 2796 I believe. That's out of a 22" barrel

I have the same gun and almost the exact same load if I remember off the top of my head. I'll double check when I get home.

Careful...some listed IMR 4350 and some H4350. They are really close in burn rates. Don't wanna mix that up. Not sure if you noticed.

Surprised nobody mentioned H4831, I've had good luck it.

I normally shoot 150 gr Partitions when hunting and 150 gr Nosler Balistic tips when punching paper. My rifle loves 52.5 gr of H4831. I'd have to check my notes to get the OAL.

When I first started reloading, I had been shooting Remington core loc ammo. Of course the reloads where way more accurate, but the first deer I shot (big doe) with the Balistic tipped ammo, I didn't get a pass through at less than 100 yds! hit right behind the front shoulder, broke through the far shoulder and lodged under the skin on the opposite side. she ran about 50 yards through the thick brush and it sure made blood trailing her difficult! Switched to the partitions and have had solid pass throughs even connecting with both shoulders.

I won't hunt with BT ammo anymore. I just don't trust it even though it's slightly more accurate

                      270 bullet and load

Mine has preferred H4831 over either of the 4350's. I have loaded 130g NosPar & SGK and 150g NosPar.

What about the Hornady SST or Accubond?
                        Any experience with those?

Accubonds didn't exist when worked up my 270 loads. If I started over today AB is what I would use

I forgot about the Hornady SST's. they shot very well with the same load information I put up earlier.

I shoot off the shelf 140 sst out of my 270. I love it, turns the insides into jelly and animals don't go far, if at all

Shot a bobcat, 2 deer and a big pig and a little pig with them last year and they were all drt. Might not be fair to count the big pig because he was shot right behind the ear
