anyone ever got a a NICS delay when buying a gun?

Have purchased many guns with 4473's and never had an issue until this past weekend at the gun show where I was put on a delay to pick up the gun this Friday.

Was not happy and passed on the great deal I had. Seller understood but said he would keep it for a $100 deposit till next Friday.

I told him I was upset as I was not able to take the gun home with me that day.

    Anyone had this happened?

    Thanks!!

Yup, I don't get delayed as I've had LTC since I was 21, however I worked at a gun store for a year and it's fairly common, especially if you have a common name. My dad got delayed and was even flagged for a while to be "randomly searched" every time he flew because his name is Bob Smith.

Gun purchases have increased much faster than NICS staffing the last few years. It happens more now than ever and often due to an inability to handle the number of inquiries being made. Get a LTC.

Are y'all putting down your social security number?

You should not be mad at this. You should be thankful that guns being bought are going thru the due process so that the wrong people do not get the guns.
                  Get your LTC. Problem Solved.

Come to think about it, this was the first time I put my ss# down as the seller asked for it.

Another funny thing is I got a call from the shop who tried to sell me said gun and said I am now approved.

I've only been delayed once. Guy at the store said it was due to high volume of sales that day, I t was right before Christmas. I have bought a few since then without issue, so I wouldn't worry that much about it. An LTC is the sure fire way to make sure it doesn't happen again though.

My dad gets delayed every time due to 'carrying' a knife my g'father made while over seas in WWII. He got pulled over in 1968 w/it in his trunk, wrapped in a leather protective 'sheet' & the city of Arlington confiscated it. Lost a family heirloom!
