    Who shoots a 6.5x55?

I recently picked up a nice Husqvarna HVA commercial mauser with an FN action.... (not military).............. It is in 6.5x55 cal.... Does anyone else shoot this caliber and if you use commercial ammo..what type? It looks like most ammo is 140 grain.... I'm wondering about something lighter.... Any info is appreciated....

I used to load 120gr Sierra ProHunters and 130 Accubonds in mine. Both will smack a deer no problemo

Lapua makes 100 grain stuff. I have found the heavy stull patterns better.........

          This guy

          That's my go to gun.

I reload 140 grain Partitions in Norma brass.

          Remington 700 classic.

I shot a mature doe with it two years ago, shot her hard quartering to me, bullet entered just in front of her shoulder and I found the bullet just under her skin in her opposite hind quarter, basically the bullet travelled through the entire length of her body. That's when I knew the 140 Patrition in the 6.5x55 was a winner. That's all I use for whitetails.

Remember, Scandinavians have been shooting moose with the 6.5x55 for over a century.

I have a Husqvarna military Mauser I shoot 156 grain Norma oryx. I also have same caliber in CZ modern action and shoot the same ammo. I have found they both like heavy bullets 140 grain plus. It will shoot lighter stuff but my will clover leave the heavy stuff all day

I have a cz and an encore with a custom ea brown barrel, both like the 140's. I did have some Norma 130 gr factory and it shot the best. Haven't been able to duplicate that load. Midway has lapua brass and it shoots great. In my opinion, best middle class round out there.

I've had three 6.5x55's and all really liked 120 gr Corelokt bullets and Reloader 22 powder.

That's the best deer killing caliber I've ever used.

Got one myself. It like 139 gr. and up. Mostly up. The 160 gr. RN bullets in my loads do the best, but man are they hard to find. Using the 160, I shot a doe a few years ago quartering to me, and the bullet exited the opposite ham. Quarter sized exit and you could eat the bullet hole. Everything else has just died on the spot. And it only kills on one end.

I bought one a while back, an original 1908 Mauser. It is bone stock, and I was going to have it set in a different stock and add a scope and all that good stuff to sporterize it, but my gunsmith talked me out of it. Since then, I've been having some fun with shooting it as-is. At 50 yards, I can shoot a MOA sized group with the iron sights. I plan to stretch it out as far as 500 once it cools down a bit, gonna see if I can even see a target at that distance with iron sights.

I bought dies, have some brass, and even some bullets; but I haven't ventured into reloading for it yet. I'm intrigued by the caliber. It is inherently accurate, light recoiling, and just a pleasure to shoot. I've been on the lookout for a hunting type rifle in this caliber, I want a classic type rifle.
