    Led Sled??

Looking at buying one? Which version should I get? Academy had the best one on sale for $179??

I was wondering about it, too. I'd like some kind of good rest for sighting in a variety of rifles, including an AR.

There are perks with each. I like "lead sled plus" because I can use my barbells as weights instead of spending over $100 more on weights. The downside to this is that you cannot use long magazines as the rod on the rest is directly placed under the gun. This would keep you from placing an AR with a 30 round mag on it. The DFT version does not accomodate barbell weights but has 2 seperated rods directly underneath where the gun would be. This allows for some longer magazines to fit in between the rods.

I got the Lead Sled Solo the other day, I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but it looks like it should work great

You have to get dft, works awesome, the other ones will not work with an AR

I can't seem to get any sort of leadsled or similar product to work as well as I would like. I've tried the real deal and several other brands without the repeatability in accuracy I would like. A good ole set of san****s and a bipod seem to do the trick with my rifles. I wish I could get one of these to work when developing new loads though as you still get most of the kick with bags.

I have a plain, 'older' one and I tried bar bell weights in it with my 300winmag and the recoil threw the weights out of the cradle.
I don't remember what size they were but I think 10 pounders.
I only use the LS for cleaning rifles anymore.

The sled can actually induce inaccuracies in some guns. It causes the stock to severely bend in the wrist, this can lead to either bad groupings or a bad zero. There is no replacement for using the good old sand bag and trigger time

Heavy recoiling wood stocked rifles especially two piece wood stocks (lever action pump single shots and semi auto rifles) have been known to break on occasion using a lead sled

I have one my wife got me as a gift. Not sure what kind it is, but I'd sell it for $15.00 if you want an inexpensive means to figure out what you want and prefer.

No replacement for bags and proper technique.

If you're chasing accuracy, working up hand loads, and sighting in rifles for small group size, I'd advise against the Lead Sled. It does not allow for free recoil and certain LS models use velcro straps to secure rifle to rest. This makes accuracy worse.

my suggestion, this Bald Eagle rest has micro windage and elevation, and on sale for $165. Buy a Protector front / rear bag and you're done
