    Need trigger advice

Ok I put the bases, rings and scope on my new out of the box Rem 700 in 300 Win with the new external trigger adjustment on it. The literature says it is set at 3lbs and can be adjust way below that for bench shooting but highly recommends to readjust to a 3lb or so pull for hunting.

First problem is the gun has a 5lb trigger pull

Second problem is no matter what you do the 5lb pull is not adjusting any lighter or heavier.

This should have never made it by QC at Remington. Now my question is what would be the best aftermarket trigger to put in this thing ??

I put Jewell triggers on all my Remington 700s because in my opinion they are the best.

Jewell triggers are nice but have to much exposed parts for me and get dirty easily.

I stick with Timney triggers and specifically the Calvin elite set at 8oz and adjust up to I believe 3 or 5#

I'm notorious for not cleaning my rifles during season and we have that really fine dust that gets everywhere on our lease and I've not had a single issue with my Jewell triggers.

                  X2!

That said, I'd rather have exposed parts that I can clean than parts encased in a unit where I can't get to them if they get dirty. I've got both and while they're both good, I've got way more Jewell triggers - because, IMO, they're better.

I've got a Timney CE in mine. Honestly, I seriously doubt if there are very many of us on here skilled/experienced enough to be able say X is better then Y. Buy a quality trigger and spend your time finding the perfect load and punching paper. When the time comes, it will all come together.

I have triggers from both Timney and Jewell. The Timneys came with some of the guns I bought. If I'm replacing a trigger it's gonna be a Jewell. Even a caveman could tell the difference in quality.
