    Buying multiple ar lowers

So if one was going to buy some A-rrrrrrrr (say it in a pirate voice) lowers in a largish to me amount, say 5-8, at what point would the purchase be flagged or become interesting to someone? Is there a magic number or something?

    Thanks

Why would you think that would be flagged? I've never heard of someone having trouble from that.

In TX there is no registry or reporting, it would be run under one background check, so no one other than your dealer would know.

If you were buying 100+ of them without an FFL, I could see how someone might assume you were doing straw sales, but less than a dozen is a non-issue.

There is no registry in Texas. If you are buying receivers only the dealer will know how many you bought. You can put 5 lowers on each 4473. If you have a CHL, the atf wont even know you made a purchase.

Now multiple semi-auto rifles or pistols, everyone will know what you bought and how many. And yes the ATF tracks those serial numbers.

          Buying multiple ar lowers

Posts #2 and #3 are both wrong. The ATF does indeed require reporting (therefore creating a de facto registry) of the sale of two or more AR rifles in 4 border states, including Texas.

See here for more info: https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/...tion-reporting

Because you are buying lowers and not rifles, your FFL will not be required to use this form. And just so you know 5–8 isn't even close to a "largish quantity."

Did you read mine? Cause its not wrong. Its right and we both said the same thing.....

Receivers buy as many as you want. Semi auto rifles and pistols will be reported.

A lower is a gun, its the only part that counts...

                    Not for receivers.

A receiver is a receiver. Its not a rifle or a pistol.

Striped lower receivers are considered pistols so if you buy two or more in the same week you get reported to the atf and local sheriff.

If your FFL is doing it that way he is doing it wrong. The box that gets check is other not pistol.

The ATF regulates that stuff so id go by with what they say.

Q2. What types of rifles are required to be reported?
A2. The rifle transactions that must be reported are dispositions of semiautomatic rifles capable
of accepting a detachable magazine and with a caliber greater than .22 (including .223/5.56
caliber) to an unlicensed person. However, the reporting requirement does not apply to receivers
                              for such rifles.
