    Any Browning Experts Here?

I have a Browning Safari FN I don't know much about and was hoping someone could tell me a bit more about it. I'm having a hard time dating it with the S/N however I'm thinking late 50's early 60's which would put it in the salted stock years but from all indications from the condition of the bluing this one doesn't appear to have been salted. Any input is appreciated.

Salt wood guns (stocks) were only produced from 1966 to 1972

Over 90% of the walnut stocks from 1967-69 were salt cured/dried

Call browning Tuesday with SN to confirm your rifles exact DOB

Looks like a 1960 great gun shoots right out the barrel when you pull the trigger. I'm not an expert but I did stay at a holiday inn last night

Its most likely hazardous to shoot so you'd better put your safety first and give it to me. I'll be a good samaritan and take it off your hands if you pay the shipping.
Just kidding as it looks like a beautiful rifle and probably is a great shooter as well.

Thanks for the info Blake. Maybe this one is pre 66. I'll give browning a shout this week.

are you the original owner ?

if not it's possible a previous owner sent the rifle back to Browning to replace the stock during the recall (1970's ~ 80's)

also IIRC , most of the stocks effected were highly figured real nice claro walnut. Your stock looks like circassian or English

you can test the wood with silver nitrite to confirm if it has salt

Correct, all stocks that were salted were claro walnut, I'm not sure that this one is. I'm not the original owner.
