Could be quite the P.I.A if it goes through

No known instances of a problem with Wetted Nitrocellulose. Looks like infringement.

What right are they infringing? Yeah that's the point, they will attack anything that affects our ability to bear arms. We have stopped them so many times on direct attacks to our 2nd amendment rights they will try any method that affects it indirectly. Just like trying to use the EPA to ban lead ammo, trying to make gunsmith fall under ITAR or Obama and his executive actions. The attacks won't stop unless our leadership gets changed.

Still early for me to make any comments...my 007 dealer is also an explosives guy & I will reach out to see his thoughts to see if this impacts that side of his business. READ THE COMMENTS. Right now, some think it may cause an impact on the powder availability, while others are saying it may affect the rocket propellant hobby guys.

My initial thoughts is they are working an angle to hit the ammo (I do not trust this admin & something smells because there has not been any issues on this particular issue with wetted nitrocellulose) or possible some sort of intel with terrorists being able to get ahold of this product?? Just too soon & need to let the dust settle.

Most certainly something to watch IMO.

        IV. Conclusion

ATF’s sudden and unexpected change in policy on wetted nitrocellulose will likely have a significant impact on industry’s ability to deliver products to the military and commercial markets. Industry members have relied on the exemption for wetted nitrocellulose for many years and are aware of no accidental detonations or diversion of this product into illicit channels. Consequently, it is unclear why ATF believed it necessary to change its policy and, more importantly, why ATF announced the change in a newsletter article with no advance notice to industry.

We are working with ATF to address the issues raised in this alert, including a possible agency announcement of delayed enforcement. We will notify our readers of any developments in the future.

          So that I can understand.....
The ATF just makes anything they want regulated if they chose to do so.

I thought only congress could make laws ?

Buff...I have no reason to believe this is not guided by ATF, but by directive of the current admin. I could be wrong, but my gut just tells me O is gonna do everything possible before the term is up to throw a wrench on the works??

Looks like the ATF already reversed their statement.

And that, my friend, is the problem with these regulatory agencies making rules that we have to follow. Constitutionally that have no authority, but by creating them and "giving" them power to make rules, Congress has subverted the Constitution.

this is an example of what I've been talking about. Incrementalism in gun control laws.

They take little bites what your acceptable the most people. And slowly that eat away at the amount of the pie that is left forest.

In this case, if you look at what the ATF has done in the last 4 years, you will see that there has Been an unprecedented amount of rulemaking from this agency under the Democratic Obama administration.

They have figured out that they are not going to be able to get the guns.

Therefore they are going after the ammunition.

Obviously, without ammunition, the guns are useless. Problem solved.

Interestingly enough the ATF issue date clarification yesterday that they are going to have a look at the effects of this New York reclassification of nitrocellulose as a high explosive.

Even the ATF realizes that if they over-reach enough, and a track congress's attention, Congress can severely rain in their rule making powers.

Surprised you don't need a background check and permit to buy fertilizer now. Maybe you do. I haven't bought any lately. I do remember the days when you had to sign a sheet to buy ammo.

This is why I buy a pound of powder every pay check....
