Need help: .308 smaller gr bullets?

Just bought a Ruger .308 cal. Too much recoil- Shot the 150 and the 147 gr bullets and theres not much difference. Anybody tried the 125 gr? Looking for any input. Thanks guys.

I believe Hornaday has a low recoil round. They didn't group good out of my remington 700 but they had noticeably less recoil

i have shot a lot of the nosler 125 ballistic tips, very accurate with my loads and devastating on deer,, i was running them plenty hot and the recoil was still mild

Yes. 125 gr SST in the Custom-Lite series boxed ammo. There are still plenty of 125 and 130 grain options for reloading

Shot location on deer/pigs? Been curious how the 125 BT performs on critters...

Barnes makes 110 and 130 grain TTSX.

Anyone have experience on 100 yard grouping with these reduced recoil rounds?

I rebuilt a Remington 700 sps tactical and when testing ammo. I found some that I could get consistant .5" or smaller. With Hornaday reduced recoil I was getting wild groups between 1" and 1.5".
But it sure did feel nice on my shoulder. I'd recommend anyone try it, you never know if your gun will like it or not

I don't think you will notice much difference in felt recoil with lighter bullets alone.

                    The reduced recoil rounds will
be your best bet or a quality muzzle brake.

What kind of rifle are you using that recoil from a 308 is uncomfortable?

tucked in tight behind the shoulder they were just short of explosive,, everything I shot with them dropped in its tracks,, not one step,, they also did not exit!,, If memory serves me right they were hitting a little over 3000fps out of a 22" barrel ... I will not post the actual load because it is over what most manuals list, but I did turn several groups of under 1/4" at 100 yards,,, as small as .036, with the 125 gr and .052 with 150 gr,,, Winchester brass and primers, it's been awhile since I loaded any but it was either, h380, h414 or win 760 powder.... the sad thing is I can not see well enough to ever do that again, age is catching up especially with my eyes,, shooting an unaltered ruger mk 2 stainless with 4x16 tasco!

My cousin had the same issue with the same gun we loaded up some 110 v max and it was pretty sweet shooting and under 1/2 MOA after a little load development. Not the best bullet for deer but I've shot them with the same bullet.

The 125 gr Sierra ProHunters are a great bullet, and are inexpensive. Groups 2" at 200 yards out of my old Savage 99 in 300 Savage.

Not sure about your rifle, but I have a savage in 308 and shoot Winchester 150 grain ballistic silver tips and have hardly any recoil.
