    Benelli 828u

I've been wanting to jump into the over and under game for a while now. I had been pretty set on a B gun, leaning more towards a silver pigeon. But I've always loved benelli semi autos and I have the super sport. When I saw benelli came out with an over/under I knew it'd be a good gun and packed full of new technology.
I have to admit I'm a sucker for new things that hit the market, technology and what not. Also I'm a sucker for a pretty looking gun. So when I was at cabelas Saturday in Fort Worth and happened to walk by the shotguns this 828u stuck out more than any of the others. There were 4 828u's up there and none of which had this beautiful of wood. A few minutes later I was filling out the paperwork.

When I first decided on getting an O/U I had wanted a 20 gauge or maybe even a 28. I didn't want to be beat up by the gun as I knew O/U had more recoil than autos. This benelli only comes in 12 and only weighs 6.6 lbs. This kinda worried me for recoil but they've always done well in the past with their recoil reduction and I can always port the barrels.

First impressions on the range was the recoil was nothing near what I thought it would be. It might kick a tad harder than my super sport, but not so much felt recoil but more like a jump you feel on the comb. The gun is perfectly balanced and swung very smooth. Pointed great and just overall shot well. It has tons of features that I love about it like the over sized safety and how it automatically goes back to safe when opened. Also the engravings and swooping lines are modeled after a mallard in flight with its wings swept forward.

I know I could have bought a very nice 725 or silver pigeon but I wanted something a little different than most and wanted the newest out there. Overall I'm very satisfied with the gun and if any of y'all are thinking of purchasing one, I can't recommend it enough.

That's one of the prettiest o/u I have seen. The wood is amazing.

Man that's a beautiful gun. I heard a lot of skeptics about that gun when it first came out. But i'm sure Benelli did a lot of homework and made the best gun they could. I'm like you, they're semi-auto's are top notch and I wouldn't hesitate to buy the o/u either.

Yeah I tried finding real world reviews other than the magazine companies and what not, which were all great reviews, but couldn't find any negative real world comments on them. Some people would say how they could see them failing due to the floating block, but to my understanding that is not really new technology. Time will tell how good the gun holds up, but it has impressed me quite a lot.
But like I said, I'm a sucker for new things.

I almost got one last yr, if they made it in a 20 I'd get one. I got a camo max 5 cynery for ducks in 12. I shoot a 20ga citori for dove. Saw that benelli and put it on my want list

If they had a 20 now I would have gotten it. But after shooting this it feels a lot like a 20. Especially compared to the yildez and others that kick hard.

Handled one for the first time today. It shouldered and pointed like a dream. I was curious about the floating block you mentioned. It wasn't as tight as I thought it would be, but I'm sure that means nothing. Congrats on a fine shotgun!

It is still getting mixed reviews...I cannot imagine Beretta not having some influence & have no doubt it has quality built into it.

It's not my style visually, but it really boils down to how it fits the individual...you cannot put a price on a gun you can shoot scratch with. I have yet to shoulder one but really need to for grins just to see how it feels.

By the tightness if you meaning how it opens and closes it is supposed to be user adjustable.

Yeah the looks don't appeal to everyone. To me it looks very modern and different than your average O/U and that appealed to me. I recommend shooting one if you ever get the chance.

Very nice looking gun. I handled one at Cabela's. If they would bring it out with a 30 or 32 in barrel, I would have one quick. Congrats!

I'm willing to bet they're about to come out with a sporting model with 30 or 32 inch barrels.
