    Incomplete ignition

Can a lite primer strike (excess headspace) cause incomplete ignition thus cause a squib?

I would think either the primer ignites on the anvil or it doesn't.

Excess headspace could possibly cause the case not filling the chamber giving you lower pressure and possibly a squib.

Rifle has proven excess headspace (closes easy on no-go gauge) but no other reason for squib on factory load.

If it closes on a no go gauge it needs to be re chambered correctly. Firearm is considered unsafe.
But I have a feeling you already know that.

Absolutely but I'm trying to figure out what caused a squib load with factory ammo

Probably just a dud round. I've seen it happen on factory ammo in a rifle with no headspace problems.

No powder in the factory load would be my guess
