    Blue print action

I have a gun I'm wanting to send to some one to square the barrel and receiver and blue print the action. What should I expect to pay for having this done and how long does this usually take? Also it's a rem 700 LR

Are you doing this with a factory barrel? PAC nor will true and add a match grade barrel for $600

you need to call the gunsmith(s) and ask their definition of "blueprint" and what services are actually performed

you want the GS to single point cut the action threads , and not chase existing threads with a reamer

you can spend from $75 to $250 depending on the GS, what's involved, and their reputation

also as SmTx noted above, you will need a new barrel since existing barrel will no longer thread onto action . PacNor does a bang-up job and their barrels shoot

Ok I may just save my money for a custom build and do glass bedding on this gun.

A good bedding job and new trigger or trigger job can do a lot for a rifle. Blue-printing the action is something you do as preparation for building a rifle from the ground up.

I think I'll leave it alone... After doing some load development with powder charge and seating depth I found a load that shoots as good as I can ask for.

The 3 shot group measures .262

That's pretty fair! Congrats on the shooter!

I've looked into the same thing with the same gun. Cheapest I've found with a good reputation is ER Shaw at ~400 for barrel and install. Douglas is ~600 for barrel and install, and PacNor is around the same. Shilen is around 400 for the barrel alone, and they don't do any install services.
Are you going to re-barrel in the same caliber or switch calibers?

If I did go with a new barrel I would do a 6.5x284 but I am a big fan of 25-06 for whitetail. It's just not the ideal long range IMO

Maybe I missed it but what caliber?? What scope is on it...is it an AO where you can remove parallax?? That gun may have real promise...a lot of the time, a good bedding will make that gun shoot close to a custom.

I would go to 5 shot groups to see what it can really do...especially if a varmint type gun.

25-06 and it has a sightron s3 6x24-50. I am planning on bedding in the near future. Thanks
