    S&W M&P Shield 9mm upgrade question

Just picked this up and trying to figure out if I want to drop an apex trigger and springs into it.

I can shoot fairly well at 7 and 15 yards running 5 round strings and rapid fire. The trigger travel seems a little excessive, but I think id get used to it.

So, here's my question, is the trigger upgrade worth it? Is a shorter travel and pull going to make a difference in my groups? I've owned a Kimber Pro Carry II for a couple of years and love the feel of the 1911 trigger but I'm not sure if I should replicate that same pull with the Shield.

For what it's worth I'll be using this for CC and maybe IDPA competitions.

Heck yes, you will shoot tighter groups.

Is it worth to upgrade the trigger and springs are just the springs?

I did on mine and it's worth it.

I have the trigger and sear with the stock spring (lighter than the Apex spring) I absolutely shoot better groups with it now. It is not as nice as trigger still as my Kimber, but it's much better than the factory trigger. My trigger was not gritty but I have an Apex in my other M&P so I wanted a similar feel with both. In my opinion it is worth it, and while you have the sights off you may as well upgrade those as well if you want!

I like mine the way it is (stock) and carry it daily.

I'm happy with the sights honestly, I'm intrigued about a flat trigger, but I don't know if I'm intrigued enough to spend another 70 dollars. I really wish I could add a thicker backstrap but it is what it is.

I have 2 shields, one stock and a second one I bought that had an apex trigger job. There is not enough differance between the 2 to justify the extra cost. This is not a target gun. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wish you lived close to Houston so I could check out your shield with the apex trigger to compare.

I have the apex trigger on my M&P9. Well worth the upgrade.

I had an M&P 9 that I put a full Apex kit in and didn't notice a huge difference. But on my M&P 45 it made a huge difference.

Reset was still weak on both after the kits. Even had the RAM on the 9mm, still very anemic compared to my Glock triggers.
