All my builds have been from PSA stuff and I have run them hard and dirty on purpose and still no issues feeding/firing steel or brass so I see no reason to pay more. I love Colt but I have read can be picky eaters from some of the owners on other forums and that is one thing I could not get over that made me pass them over. If Im paying for name brand quality it better shoot what ever I put in it every time. Ill prob upgrade trigger on day but that would be it.

Your .223 NEF shoots same ammo as .223 Wylde its all just .223 but the Wylde fixes the slight difference ( and yes there is one) between 5.56 and .223 to make shooting your .223 more accurate than it would be out of a 5.56 chambered barrel.

Also rate of twist of your barrel you will need to figure out. There is a chart showing each one and what weight bullets they stabilize better than others. I went with faster 1:7 to shoot heavier bullets but you will need to figure out what is best for your needs.

Thanks, yep doesn't look like having an FFL saves much at all if anything because those shops are more than likely not even charging a fee if the lower is on sale. They are just making their cut on the wholesale price they bought it for.

Craps, was hoping there was some savings in there.

        Nope.

        Thanks for the info, Mike!!!!

Mike why would one not want the most accurate rifle they can get?

Please explain how/why 5.56 would be better all around utility rifle over one chambered in .223 Wylde?

Not trying to start a pissing contest just looking for your insight.

I can't speak to PSA as I've never owned on of their rifles and probably never will because I question the quality of the parts they use. The premium line seems to be ok but the basic models I don't know.

What I can speak to is my experience with my LE6930 and LE6933 Colts.

I have thousands of rounds of steel case stuff from Herters, Wolf, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, etc and have had zero failures. Most of these were running suppressed and even occasionally running 100 rounds drum mags on them.

Like I said, as long as you stick to the LE models built in the Colt Defense factory, I don't see you having any problems. Otherwise with all of the whoring out of their name over the last couple of years you run the risk of getting an inferior rifle.

Again love Colt but if your google "colt 6920 failure to feed" you will see what I mean. Just too much trouble for me to drop that kind of cash and with my luck Id get a bad one and be out the 1000.00 that I could have put in to a build.

I did Google found a couple of threads on ARF from 2010-2012 that ended up being Mag related. Found a couple on M4C that were either Mag related or Ammo related.

Maybe I missed it but I saw nothing that pointed to the rifle being the problem.

Maybe they have gotten better but I never thought I would see a Colt do this ever!!

Not a mag issue her https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqEdBEcuRgk

Heck I never thought I would say "maybe they have gotten better" not from Colt. But maybe Im expecting too much from them these days. Well video about was 2012 so who knows when they let QC go.

Man you are reaching. Look at that gun. That is not a Colt Defense rifle. That likely came out of the competition division.

It looks to be an 18-20" barrel and non-threaded.

Not "reaching" just what you find when you start looking around with an open mind. If it has the name Colt stamped on it it should run and gun IMO period no excuses of its this model or that model. Unless Im wrong about what Colt means these days. Besides to stay with "LE" models Ive seen threads on those too no matter how old the thread is it still happened and not all mag issues ether. How should one go about getting a good one .... a REAL Colt. Is there a way to guarantee I buy a "good one" like older is better kinda deal? Serial numbers? production years? Or is it 1:10,000 and just pray I dont get that 1?

I guess I just dont believe in the buy Colt 1 and done end all anymore. I wish I could but I just dont and with you saying they are not built the same just puts even more doubt in my mind. Thanks Mike for the talk/info its hard to talk to Colt owners sometimes .. they get all hurt if they feel your even remotely thinking its not superior to all other ARs.

PO sorry to get side tracked on Colt good luck on your build and post up some pics when your all done.

Don't know what to tell you. You threw out accusations that you couldn't back up.

I assure you if The Colt Defense rifles were having issues, the people on M4C would ROAST them.

Whether you think it or not there is a difference between the CD rifles and the others. They do not use the same parts, or machines and they certainly don't meet the TDP.
