I had someone help me lay the safe on a blanket and slid it into my garage. Once it was in my garage I used a gator jack to elevate it a bit, stabilized it with some jack stands and then backed my 5x10 trailer right under it.
I moved my 700# safe with one friend. Open the door and walk it. With the door open it offsets the weight and moves pretty easy. Lay it down on a trailer, then stood it up at the new place and walked it into position.
Pretty darn easy with the right equipment. Have moved 2 massive safes in the last week with these, a 6ft prybar, and some wooden 2x4 blocks. Get them in position and under the safe, a few pumps on each of the hydraulic jacks, then wheel it wherever you need to go.
My safe weighs 1800# empty. I paid a safe moving company to get it out of my house and on a trailer. They used the sliders you can get at Walmart for moving it on carpet. Then they used the dolly shown below. This dolly will actually climb stairs with a load. I've moved a lot of machine tools with a come along and pipe rollers. But a safe is so top heavy I left it to the pros.
I have a $3400 total out of pocket for major medical expenses. I would have to weigh what the cost of moving vs the cost of surgery, time off, missing time at the lease . . .
look up stair climbing dolly on youtube I rented one to get it inside the house climbed right up from the porch step, did it with my wife so basically did it myself ,if I have to move another will pay to have it done.
