5.56/223 factory ammo question

If someone were to acquire an AR-15 and wanted to establish a multi-purpose collection of ammunition for it without handloading, what 5.56/223 ammunition types would you purchase? Uses would be target shooting, hunting and self-defense.

Cheap FMJ's for target practice,Hollowpoints and V-Max for varmints and Softpoint and Bonded bullets for heavier bodied animals. It's hard to recommend any specific bullet without knowing what grain of bullet your rifle shoots best.

My brother uses 55 grain hornady Superformance with the gmx bullets. Works excellent for him. Super super accurate in his gun and is suitable for hunting at defense. Expensive round for target shooting.

I use different loads for each purpose.
