    22 hornet.

Anyone carry a 22 hornet for hunting?

    22 hornet.

I snagged a savage m25 in one for like 275$ last year and gave it to my dad and he loves that thing. Shot a cull last year at 75 yards in the neck and dropped it. Id have to say its his go to gun.

What factory round does he shoot? Been trying to figure out what holds up best to larger game without having to do reloads just yet so far I have found winchester 45 gr soft pts hold up and hit the hardest on coyotes. I shot one with one one day o sware it looked like someone hit him in the side with a 20 lb hammer the way he fell.

Have shot 200lb hogs in the head at 80 yards and dropped like a brick with the 45 grain Winchester.

Been shooting the hornet for many many moons, it got moved down a notch in the rotation for several years behind the .222, but I picked up newer Savage a couple of years ago and I'm back shooting everything with a pea shooter, .45 grain winchesters when I can get my hands on them, but I also squirrel away all my brass, with all the supplies to keep me shooting with reloads.

I've killed a couple hogs and one deer (a buck) with a 22 hornet. All pigs were head shot and I neck shot the deer. My son has also shot a pig with it (head shot also).

However I don't carry it as an every day hunting rifle. More of a sentimental thing for me and my son to use every now and then. It is my dads rifle and he has killed a huge pile of varmits with it.

Ok cause iv shot 2 deer and 3 or 4 pigs with mine and I don't know how many yotes, coons, squirrels with it but have always used the ppu 45 gr soft points. They are the closest round I have found to match the winchester soft pts plus they are $25 for 50 vs $50+ for a box of 50 of wins

I've got one of the new single-shot Savage Model 40s with the thumbhole stock. They made them for a few years last decade, so I guess it's not that new. It's in a laminate thumbhole stock. It's a .75" gun with 5 shot groups with Barnes 36 gr Varmint Grenades and a sub 1" gun with 5-shot groups of 45 gr Barnes TSX. I'm loading LilGun powder. 13 grains I think. I've thought about taking to whack does with; I just haven't.
