    Larue.............

So we are getting rid of those gawdy, non LEO, Nam era M-16s. The take to this is for whatever reason they are looking for replacing the with a Larue, but on our dime of 2 Gs to each officer.

I posted on another forum and it appears it was 50/50. Some absolutely hated the Larue others loved it. Not sure what my take is as I know only they are Texas based. I'm still on the side for a Sig, RR or even Colt. Half the price of the Larue. Any input?

I love my Larue but for your purposes I'd look at Daniel Defense or Colt. Larue is more of a specific longer range target gun. Also BCM is good and so is LMT.

I Sig MCX would be a good one too.

Daniel Defense though for the all around gun in my opinion.

If we're talking more like a long range sniper type rifle in 7.62 then by all means look at Larue, Noveske, LMT MWS, GAP, LWRC, etc. but I figured you're talking like a patrol rifle in 556 since you said only 2K. The 762 variants are more like 3-5.

If you are wanting a battle AR, then the Colt 6920 with the Magpul furniture is going to be tough to beat for the $$$.

You may also want to look at Noveski & LMT, even DD as well...Larue makes good stuff but if I was going to war, would pick another flavor myself.

                Daniel Defense or Colt

I carry a Colt 6920 / free float with a troy alpha rail. I shoot at least once a month with several hundred rounds down range. I have shot and demo'd several rifles, Colt, Rock River, Daniel Defense, Busmaster, Larue, Radical Firearms.... and I know I'm missing several others. The manufacturing process for these rifles are pretty good and some beat mil spec quality.

I have been shooting Colt's since 98 and have never had an issue. Laura are very nice rifles but over priced for comparison of what you actually see in accuracy or dependability.

Save money on the rifles and put it into a good quality optic... Cant hit what you can't see and to me the optic is more important. Whether it be magnified or non-magnified.

Good luck, and just my 2 cents.

I'm confused are they going to make you pay 2k out of your own pocket?

For around $2000, DD offers a LE package with optics, and several other accessories. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine and I've ordered quite a few for other fellow LEO's.

Kinda off topic but is money even an issue? Yall should be getting at least $10k each for your old M-16s, arent you?

Outta your own pocket then it's the colt unless you just want something more expensive.

They never were ours. They belong to the US Gov. Time to give them back. We got em after all the big shootings. No love loss, I really only liked the full auto feature. They were not a good rifle for carry imo.

                              Larue.............

I own most of the ars mentioned here and all around for the money colt is excellent. Just for a little bit more than maybe look at Daniel defense. They're my go to all around ar.
