Question about mounting specific scope on specific rifle.

Alright guys, several questions here. I have newly acquired a savage 110 preaccutrigger 243 that I want to put a leupold vari x 2 6x18-40 on. I have some taller tactical rings and bases that came with the scope. The bases are not the right size. Rifle has a flat back receiver and curved front. One ring is a dove tail and one works with a rod.

    1) Can I use these rings on this rifle or will I need different rings?
    2) if these rings will work what mount can I use?
    3) If these rings won't work I am assuming this is an easier question and I just get new rings and bases that will work.
    4) rifle currently has sights on it- should I have those taken off when I mount the scope or does it not matter?
    5) what is the best route for me to go?

I would like to use the rings but if I can't I can't do no worries. I have attached some pics to get a visual.
Thanks guys, sorry for the long read.

You have your mount and rings in your hand.

Twist rings apart from base and bolt base down twist bottom part of rings back in put scope in level up torque down top. You can do as much work mounting it correctly as your heart desires.

The base that I have currently will not work for this rifle I believe- both mounts are concave and the back receiver of the rifle is flat.

You can use the rings, just buy the right bases for the rifle.

              1) Yes, those rings will work fine
              2) A windage adjustable base for a Savage 110 action.

              3) They will work
4)You can leave them on. It's personal preference. If they bother you then take them off.
              5) Buy a base and use the rings you have

Perfect, thank you very much sir- that's what I needed to know. The one you posted is a long action- should I go with the same base in short action since it is a 243?

Aren't all 110's long actions. Unfortunately I'm not real familiar with Savages.

I do not know- I am not very familiar yet either- the gun is new to me last week- and I am in the process of learning more in general...... Hopefully someone who knows a lot more than I do chimes in. I do know that they sell the same mount you posted the link to in a short action version.

How can I tell if I have a Short Action or a Long Action? I'm Looking to outfit my savage with a new tactical stock and the last thing I want to do is order the wrong one. Also what is the difference?

Your gun looks to be a long action, even though it's a SA caliber. I have a Savage 110 .243 just like it.

Thanks guys- lots of good information here- I've never used a one piece scope mount, what are the practical differences? Does it ever get in the way? Really trying to learn here, I appreciate all of the input.
