Subsonic / Quiet .22LR rounds question

Anyone ever try the Winchester M-22 subsonic, or the CCI "Suppressor" rounds? I don't have a can, but I'm looking for low-noise rounds.

I am currently shooting the Aguila Colibri with the 20 grain bullet, and they are very quiet, but also very weak. But I'm also shooting those out of my pistol.

I was wondering if the Winchester or CCI's I mentioned above would be just as quiet or close to as quiet from a rifle.

    All the best,
    Glenn

What is your target? The Colibris work good on squirrels and rabbits, but anything bigger...

          These are VERY dirty.

I run the gemtec subs in most of mine. Great ammo. The CCI quiet 22 is a bit quieter but slower by a lot and dirty as heck.

Thank you. I'll see if I can find a box. I haven't seen those around here, but then again - I wasn't looking for that particular type before. I'll check a few stores. I appreciate the help.

Mostly squirrels. I've used the Colibris in my Ruger Single Six and noticed they drop quite a bit - even at very close range. Hard to adjust with a fixed sight pistol, but I'm trying my best!

I appreciate the offer. I'll pick up a box of each at Academy if they still have them. If they run out before I get them, I'll give you a shout. Thank you!

                  Does your rifle shoot shorts?

                  If so 22 short HP’s.

How are the Gemtec for quietness? Where are you buying it? Ive never seen that brand locally. Thanks for the response.

Have you tried shooting them out of a 22 rifle. We used to shoot them out of a 10/22 and they were super quiet and would kill birds in the back yard (20-30 yards) no big deal.

Hmmm... This is odd. I was about to write something, and I wanted to get the wording right, so I grabbed the box I just bought. The wording I was looking for wasn't on that new box. So I looked for the old box, and sure enough, there it was:

These priming mix propelled projectiles must be fired only in handguns. When fired in long-barreled firearms such as rifles, bullets may remain lodged inside the longer barrel.
I wonder why what seems to be the same ammo, no longer carries that warning? Maybe it's changed, or maybe they just figured that people are shooting them from rifles anyway, so stop putting the warning on the box. Odd.

I checked the boxed completely. Both Aguila. Both .22 Colibri. Both 20 grains.

The old box that had that writing on it is bright multi color - green, yellow, orange, blue, purple. It has a hummingbird on the front, and "Amorcage Eley" on a yellow stripe. Each cartridge has a hummingbird as a headstamp. Bullets look dull grey lead.

The new box is white, blue, and grey. There is an outline of a cartridge, with what looks like a hawk's head in the tip, along with the Aguila name. The headstamp on these is just a big "A". Bullets look shiny and almost black.

I just may have to try these in my rifle! Thanks!

                        All the best,
                        Glenn
