Interesting thing happened at the LGS

Went into the LGS at lunch to pick up my freak out pre-ban that hasn't happened yet AR parts. Something I'd never seen before occurred. A gentleman tried to buy hi-cap mags and when he provided his driver license the LGS cancelled the sale on the basis that he was a CA resident. They explained that hi cap mags are illegal in in CA and that he cannot travel to another state to buy them and then return to CA.

As a citizen I say screw CA and let the guy have his mags but I understand the business wouldn't want the potential liability. I'm sure the guy can probably find another store that won't make the same connection but I thought it was interesting this particular store took that stance.

you can't just hand over cash for a 30 round mag anymore? It requires I.D.?

The policy of Big Tex Outdoors is that our customers are responsible for knowing and complying with the laws in their state of residence.

I cannot legally sell a prohibited firearm to a resident, but there are zero federal laws regulating magazines or other ammunition feeding devices. Some places see it differently I guess.
