    Scoped 5.56 trajectory help!!!!!

Was in the Army back in the day so am familiar or used to be with this weapon system. Never scoped one before. We would zero at 25 yds I think and were taught to aim low at 50 and high at 150 to hit center mass with the M16 using iron sights. I scoped a good quality AR with a digital NV scope. Zeroed at 50 yds and can hit bullseye. Recently I have been hunting a feeder at 125 yds off my tank for hogs. Last two tries cross hairs right on the skull and nothing. Checked zero again today at 50 and right on.

I am thinking of just putting this scope on my 30.06 and be done with it. Can you scope an AR with the trajectory of the round? When I think back now on my military days and trajectory training my round cant possibly be going in the same place at 50 as 125 to 150.

    Please help.

Yes. You can scope an AR.

I am not sure what he is asking.

If he is asking can you, as a shooter, sight in an optic, calculate the trajectory of a 5.56mm projectile and determine its point of impact at 150yards the answer is yes.

If he is asking whether you can shoot a hog in the head with a scope 556 AR 15 and 150 yards, then that depends on his skills and the quality of the optic, the ammo and the rifle.

So what are you think he is asking?

              What ammo are you using?

What length barrel are you using?

              What optic are you using?

What Mount are you using with that optic?

              What velocity are you getting?

              What projectile are you using?

The easiest thing to do would be to set paper up at 75 100 and 125 yards, shoot it as is and see where it shoots and that will give you your dope

Maybe this will help. I would suggest a 100yrd zero

Sight in at somewhere around an inch high at 100 yards. I sight my .223's in right at or a little over an inch at 100 and call it good.

Hornady 55gr soft point out of my Ar with night vision and 50 yards zero.

I think the 50yard zero is the best all around zero for the night vision for pigs. You can normally get within 100 yards pretty easy and you are never more than an inch off until past 180 yards or so which is pushing bullet limits on a big pig.

I'm shooting hog hammer 65 gr 16 inch barrel. The weapon is very custom as each group is a different make. Using a 5-18x ATN X sight that is zeroed at 50. According to charts posted above 150 yds where I'm shooting it's falling low.

                              Have you chron'd the load?

Physically verified POI at different ranges?
