Wylde. Amazingly accurate in my set up. And when the zombies come I don't want to have to worry if I find either 223 or 556 while pillaging and plundering.

Wylde I have bullets touching at 500 yards. Ya, it was luck but still impressed me.

Get a Wylde. There's no reason not to and lots of reasons to. It's the best of both worlds: it handles the pressure of the 5.56 and longer bullets loaded in the .223 and does so with no accuracy penalty.

Wylde it is! Got my upper orders today! Woohoo. I sold my other one about 2 years ago when the AR feeding frenzy was happening. Now to start saving for another can for it!

The barrel should be marked. If it's not you have to assume it's a .223 chamber.

Should say 223 Rem, 5.56, or 223 Wylde.

I prefer Wylde, when I can get it, for an AR barrel. I feel it's more accurate and let's you shoot both. If I can't find a Wylde barrel, I use 5.56 for AR's. If I were to build a bolt gun, I'd go .223.

So if my barrel says 5.56 I should only shoot 5.56 out of it ? I feel like that is s dumb question.

If it says 5.56 you can shoot .223 as well. It just wont be as accurate, probably anyway.

I have hear of people shooting 5.56 out of a .223 barrel but this is extremely dangerous as the pressure spike could damage the gun or you.

A .223 barrel has the smallest chamber, .556 is a larger chamber.

Also there's less leade or freebore in a .223.

SAAMI standardized pressure for the .223 is 55,000 psi. There is no standard pressure for 5.56 ammo. Some of it is loaded to 62,000+ psi.

.223 will work just fine out of it. You likely won't notice any accuracy difference. There may not be any accuracy difference or the gun or the shooter isn't good enough to reveal it. The danger is putting 5.56 in a .223 chamber.
