Need value of a colt pistol

Colt single action army pistol, 4 5/8 barrel , nickel, second gen(about 1977), appears to be unfired. EXCELLENT shape, only bad thing about it is, no box. I have an opportunity to pick this up, but I don't wanna get screwed. I looked it up on GB but there are so many variations to the colt revolver. Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure either...what is the price you are being offered??

If it is close to fair, I would buy it myself as I've always wanted a 2nd gen for a shooter in that particular configuration. Unless it's a crazy price, I'm likely gonna tell you to get it. Maybe a little too nice to shoot, but still...nice find.

He's asking $1500, but I think there's some wiggle room.

Well, I would like to have it if you decide not too...

I like it & think that is a fair price for a 2nd (to me)

That is a fair price for that revolver. If he'll come down some, all the better but I wouldn't hesitate to buy it for $1500 if it is something I wanted.

Are you sure that it is a 2nd generation? Do you have the serial number?

Is that unfired? I see no cylinder drag ring.

It's there but it's faint. If it's been fired it hasn't been much. Could be just cocking and decocking wear.

No, I believe it has not been fired.

The guy won't give the number before the sale, not sure what he's worried about......so I gave him the number to call and get the info. It's my co workers father in law, so I trust my co worker.

You don't need the entire serial number. He could leave off the last two or three numbers. Just replace them with an x. For example SA543XX. The main thing is the letters and the first numbers as they will sometimes show the date of manufacture. The last two numbers won't help anyhow but allows the seller to keep the number private.
