    Marlin 30-30 trigger. Need ideas.

Six months ago I replaced the trigger in my Marlin 30-30 with a Wild West trigger. It was easy and now the trigger is much crisper, no grit, and it took a few pounds off.

However, it could always be a little better. I still notice some creep in the trigger. Is there anything else I could try? It's been a few months since I've had the gun taken apart but maybe some filing or a new spring or....?

Gun was made in 1983 and is very good shape.

Marlinowners.com has a gun smithing section that has a few things you can do that might help.

Marlin triggers are pretty easy to work on very simple. With that being said they are very easy to make unsafe. Sometimes just polishing the hammer and trigger sear will yield huge improvement in trigger feel. You can also bend the trigger spring to lighten it. Swany on Marlin owners forum has a few good stickeys on Marlin triggers.

Finally got around to this project. I disassembled and took the wild west trigger out. A few strokes of sand paper on the sear and then reassembled. Problem fixed. No creep whatsoever and the trigger is crisp and grit free.
