    Nikon buckmaster scopes

I was checking out another thread, and read about a "cheap buckmasters scope".
I checked academy's website and found buckmasters II 4x12 scope for $149.
Last time I checked a 4x14 buckmasters was almost $300!
Are these cheaper scopes the same quality as the older ones?

Cabelas has the Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 with BDC scopes in stock at $129.99 - regular price. I just installed one on a Winchester Model 100, but haven't had a chance to sight it in yet (Cabelas also mounts and bore sights the scopes for free). There is more plastic (turret caps) than the older Nikons, but Nikon now has the idiot proof replacement warranty. Yep, replacement is free for life even if you dropped or ruined the scope.

    Good luck,

    Dave

        Forgive my ignorance.
Is Nikon "buckmasters" scope somehow connected to Jackie Bushman/Buckmasters?

I was told that the new Buckamaster II scopes are now their entry line scope. You now it goes
          1. Buckmaster II
          2. Prostaff
          3. Monarch

It use to be that the Prostaff was the entry line product

I had a really bad experience with one of these scopes. Don't really care to go into detail but I wont get another one. You get what you pay for.

The Son's and I have never had a Buckmaster on any of the rifles. However, we ALL like the Pro-Staffs and Monarchs. I do disagree to a point with "you get what you pay for," as price does not always dictate performance.

I do NOT like certain models of Leopold or Vortex...just preference and experience. More $$ does not always equate to quality, but C-Beck's statement obviously does have merit.

We even have a few of the OLD Simmon's Mag 44 scopes that are older than most of the GS these days....never a problem and clear as can be. I personally do not rely on what opinions I read on almost any item, rather I look, hold and judge for myself.

Ain't it great...we can all respond and then confuse even more....

I would agree, that usually you get what you pay for. I have had pro staff and Buckmasters, both are 10+ years old. I thought they were great scopes for the money. I was just a little disappointed to see a scope going for around half what I paid years ago. I doubt the quality of the newer ones is on par with the more expensive ones, but I could be mistaken.
                I appreciate everyone's responses.

I just bought one. I have only shot a couple rounds with the scope on the rifle. I think it was a good value. $119 at Rural King(Terre Haute,Indiana)

I had an old Buckmasters scope that was good, but I don't think these are in the same league from what I have read.
