    Winchester Model 70

Found a Winchester model 70 today in a pawn shop. It's a 25-06 which I love. It has a great looking wood stock with the schnabel fore end. Has a Pentax scope on it, maybe a 4x12, didn't pay enough attention to the gun and scope. I'm not really much of a gun buyer but I feel like I should have bought this rifle. They are wanting $850 for it. Any GS advice on this rifle. Does the schnabel fore end tell you which model 70 it is? Thanks for any help........

Too vague...push feed or control feed?? Pentax has no value so disregard optics. You are really focusing on the rifle itself which unless it has an exceptional piece of walnut would be hard to reach $850. If you can, get a pic.

Seems kinda high, you can get into a new one for around the same price, and unless it was a pre 64 I would just buy the new one.

Thanks for the help. Do they still make with the wood stock? I will get the serial number and run it. Thanks again!

Looks to be a "featherweight" version but I am not positive.

Again is it push feed or control round feed? Post up a pic or two!

Don't they make control round feed again? If so I don't see pre64 being that great either

Pawn shops usually have a few different prices what they want, what they will take, what they will take cash (for some reason $100's work best for this). These prices generally change the longer it has been there.

Unfortunately this is a consignment gun, pawn shop doesn't have much say in price. I will try to get some pictures. Hoping I can get the seller to price it without scope, would pull the Pentax scope off of it anyway and put a leupy or better on it.
