Is there a market for factory takeoff Remington barrels, triggers (xmark) and adl sto

I'm planning a build and can't decide where to go for the action. I could go to Academy and buy the ADL (assuming they have a LA magnum), or I could order a stainless action from Buds, tax free, and the price is very close. Is it worth it to go with the adl and try to resell the take off parts? I'd prefer the stainless action anyway, but if I could make some cash back by purchasing a complete rifle, I might go that route instead.

I couldn't see anyone paying much for the x Mark trigger or plastic stock, maybe $25 each? What about the barrel? What's that worth, or would anybody even bother to buy it?

Hmmm, do I could potentially recover 120-150 bucks. That brings the action cost down to under 300.

Who buys these parts? I mean, is it something I'd have to put on the classifieds and wait for someone to bite?

Wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to sell in my opinion unless you knew someone who wanted it all. Just buy the stainless if that's what you are really wanting anyhow.

I'd just buy the stainless. The only way I'd even consider going the other route is if I could line up someone to take the take-off's as a package.

I think it would be easier if it weren't a LA Magnum. Academy lists one option for that online - 7mm Rem Mag. So if you can locate one, you may want to advertise as such:

Factory take-off parts (rifle will not be purchased until I have a buyer for the take-offs):

            1) Remington 24" 7mm Rem Mag barrel, blued
            2) Remington factory ADL black synthetic stock
            3) Remington X-Mark Pro trigger

Buy all these brand new parts for only...

See if you get any bites. If you do, lock in the sale, go buy the rifle, and take it apart. If you don't see any interest, go with the stainless action.

The parts will sell. Just maybe not as fast as you would like them to.

            All the best,
            Glenn

That's kind if what I was thinking Glenn, and most likely the route I will take.

                Luke,
Do you have the tools to take off the barrel? If not, factor barrel removal costs into that first option as well.

                What'cha building?

                All the best,
                Glenn

No, I sure don't, not yet anyway.

I'm building a 7mm magnum of some sort, but haven't decided exactly which chamber I want. I'm leaning toward a variant of 7mm-300 win mag with a sharper shoulder angle and less body taper. It's called 7mm Rogue, our there is another one called 7mm Practical. I have looked at a few others, like the Gunwerks LRM, but I don't feel like necking down from 375 to 284, and the LRM brass isn't listed on their site that I could find, the 300wm brass is everywhere and 30 call down to 7mm should be fairly simple. The Rogue chamber design is supposedly a simple, single pass in a Rogue die and a fire form and you're done. He claims velocities between 3100 and 3200fps with a 180gr Berger. I don't expect to see those velocities, but somewhere close would be great.

It'll be a 26" Sendero profile barrel, blue printed 700 action, Timney trigger, B&C stock, Atlas bipod. I haven't decided on bottom metal yet, but which ever one I chose, it will accept AI mags (another reason for sticking with the win mag case).

Nice. Those are ones I've never heard of, so had to go look at them. I was comparing the notes I found to other cartridges on AmmoGuide such as the 7mm-300 Wby, 7mm BH Mag, 7mm STW, and 7mm MSM. Very interesting. Nothing my shoulder could handle though!

I found some interesting reading on the Rogue here:

and some other reading (plus pics) of the Practical here:

No matter what you decide on, I hope you enjoy the new build!
                    All the best,
                    Glenn

Thanks! I think I'll like it. I've learned that I can manage recoil, or rather mitigate it, with a combo of a few things:

Heavy gun, muzzle brake/silencer, Limbsaver or Pachmayer butt pads. Plus, you don't feel recoil when there's hair in the crosshairs.

I'm not a western mountain elk hunter, so the ultralight rifles don't really appeal to me anyway, but I still do a fair amount of hiking during whitetail season with a 14+ pound rifle, but I carry it on both shoulders with a backpack, instead of one with a sling.
