    HELP .30 Remington AR

I have the opportunity of purchasing a .30 Remington AR at what I believe to be a very fair price. I'm not super familiar with this gun. Can anyone tell me any positives or negatives about this particular gun? Other than ammo will be a little harder to come by. Also what you think it may be worth?

The gun was purchased brand new in 2010 and has yet to be fired.

Parent case is the 450 Bushmaster

It is very similar to a 30-30 in performance

It is a neat niche cartridge, I think it would be fun to own and shoot. You will need to hand load.

I researched them, among others, and built a 300BLK, just for the simplicity

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea what they might be worth?

The 3 on gun broker range from $725 - $1,300 but all 3 have 0 bids on them.
What is he offering it to you for?

          It is the R-15 correct?

That seems fair to me, my only hesitation is the ammo and how long it will be around.

If you reload and get enough brass than i say go for it, if not i would suggest buying all you can while you can.

Isn't the R15 just an AR10 platform made by Remington? If so, then it'd be easy to convert to a .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, etc. $600 doesn't seem like a bad price. If my assumption is correct, it'd just need a new barrel and bolt (and maybe magazine?) to be converted into a host of other calibers.

No, AR15 platform. R10 is the AR10 platform. 30 Remington was designed for the AR15.

That could get confusing. There is an older 30 Rem out there. I don't believe it is still in production

I don't believe this gun is being made anymore. They came out with these in 2008 and made them for a few years. From what I understand.

It was Remi's first attempt entering the AR world. It just never took off. Those who have them love them. Too many problems in why it didn't succeed. My bias too many proprietary parts that wouldn't work with other ARs.

If you are a reloader go for it. Its a steal of a deal for that rifle. Just know that it has been discontinued from Remi. but from what I have experienced 2 guys that I know use them swear by them for short and mid range use.

if its the 30 Remington AR it is the R-15, no longer in production but ammo can be found online.
