    Vortex Viper HST

Anyone own one of these scopes? I am looking for a scope <$700 to put on a Ruger American 6.5 Creedmoor. I have some Bass Pro GC's to use and this scope has had my eye. Looking for something I can stretch out a good distance if I want to. I'll use the rifle for hunting and maybe some long range targets if I can find a range to shoot at nearby. Would really like to get the PST but it's a little out of my budget and don't really need the illuminated reticle.

I purchased a Tikka 25-06 (left gun in pic) off TBH that already had the PST on it. It's my first long range scope & I like it a lot. The illuminated reticle is a plus too

They're average that's it. They will do the job but nothing special. For the price point not bad at all

Oh sweet I was asking Trophy8 about these yesterday.

Trophy8 are these the Vortex scopes you like?

You will get a lot of "features" for the money.

Glass is sub par in my experience.

I agree. It seems like some other brand always has a better product in the same price range. It may be Nikon, Leupold, Bushnell, Burris.. But not Vortex.

I somewhat agree with this. I own one and am thinking about another. The glass is good but not great.

IMO-for the features you get and the quality of the product it's a good value for the money.

I don't know of any that offer the same features for that price. Leupold has much better glass but if you get an equally optioned scope it's nearly twice the price.

IMO-the Viper PST is like buying a Mark 4 with Nikon Monarch glass. Although the Mark 4 doesn't have a zero stop.

You can see a difference in image quality out past 300 but I've shot mine to 600 and wouldn't have an issue with shooting an animal at that range with it. I've found it be very repeatable on the dial and really like the reticle although I do wish it was graduated in 1 MOA not 2.

I did have my hands on a Mark 6 with CDS and zero stop in a 3x18 but I'm having a hard time with the $1400 price tag...
