    OWB Holster

Ok guys, I'm deciding on my 1st OWB Conceal Carry holster. You guys like leather, kydex or hybrid best?

I like the El Paso Saddlery, DM Bullard and Mitch Rosen for leather. I like Crossbreed, Comp-Tac and RM for kydex/hybrid. See links below.

Let me know your thoughts. I plan on carrying at 4 o'clock, FYI.

Had galco slide for a long time. Still like it, just makes pistol stick out a little far and wobbles a little. Recently ordered an alien gear setup -kydex/leather. Keeps pistol close and secure.

I looked at the Alien gear because of their affordability. Which one did you get? OWB or IWB?

Im a fan of the DM bullard bodyguard. Thanks for posting those links though, that comptac looks interesting and I might give it a shot.

As for the Aliengear holsters, "you get what you pay for" holds true.

I got both. The kydex is interchangeable onto the IWB or OWB. I had never worn a true IWB with my keltec, just a single clip pocket style holster. I need a little bigger belt or a smaller gut! It felt good and could probably get used to it pretty quick. I wear the OWB with a 1911 most of the time with an untucked shirt. The OWB really tucks my 1911 up and is very secure.

any ridged style holster will cause the gun to be more visible or print much easier,,, if that does not matter then, choose what ever you prefer,,,
i however much prefer mine to not "print" and i have been using an uncle mikes reversible nylon holster for many years, for one thing it will carry just about anything i choose to put in it, from a full size 1911, too a 2" revolver, even a charter arms bulldog 44,, and a khar 45. you can use it with or without a thumb snap,, i wear it outside the pants but under the belt i have worked many hours in the woods or my place and even use the same one when i will be sitting for hours,or going to the store,, being nylon and flexible it contours around your body allowing a much closer fit than any stiff holster,, about the only thing i do not like to carry in it is a springfield xd, the trigger guard does not allow it to drop down into the holster as far as i like,,, and i have had a couple of high end and even custom ordered holsters,,,, i use one of those for the xd and everything else rides in my cheapo washable uncle mikes.... but what the heck do i know i've only been carrying concealed for 35 years........

Carried this holster everyday on duty until I switched to a 1911. Still wear it on search warrants when I need a pistol with more rounds. This thing is strong and does not move. Mine was for a Glock 22 but they'll make them for all kinds of pistols.

The OWB Challenger holster is perfect for individuals seeking an off-duty or plainclothes holster with greater retention.

Here are the two i use. The first is a custom made holster from 10-32 supply in beaumont. Very comfortable and can be pretty much concealed under a shirt tail even with the big beretta.

The second is a serpa with the belt loop mount. It is ok, but no where near concealable and itsnt nearly as comfortable as the custom.

If you have the funds, go with a good quality leather holster and a good belt!!! My leather holster and belt were $206 out the door. I cant recommend that enough!! The serpa was $50 or less. I also have an aliengear and after wearing the other two, it had been resigned to the junk drawer. Nothing really wrong with it, but it is just not nearly as comfortable.

I wore IWB for my first year of conceal carry life. First of the year I purchased a $165 OWB holster and was extremely disappointed.

1- no matter where I positioned it, it was very uncomfortable while driving.
2- I didn't think there would be that much difference in printing but there is. The amount of printing is extreme.
3- the lack of my belt keeping constant pressure on my holster reduced the level of retention I was able to achieve.

All in all, the comfort wasn't what I was hoping for and my gun felt way more vulnerable that far away from my body. I wear a stealthgear IWB holster now and it's the best of both worlds.

I love my white hat holster. 6 screws I can easily swap to an IWB leather. Same Kydex.
