Winchester Model 70 Featherlight

Considering cashing in my Cabelas points on a new one of these in .243. I went in and checked it out the other day, and it sure feels like a solid rifle.

Anyone have one of these? How does it shoot?

I have a Featherweight in 300WSM and love it. It has become my go to rifle because of size, weight and accuracy.

Don't think you could go wrong shooting a riflemans rifle. One of my hunting pals has one in .243 and he loves it. Calls it his lucky gun.
Mod 70 tried and true. I like them better than the Rem 700's

I have a model 70 featherweight pre64 in 243, my dad bought new and topped it with a weaver K6. It's an awesome rifle and wouldn't take $5000 for it!

For the record, I am not talking about the older guns. I have a pre 64 Model 70 in .270 and I absolutely love it.

I am talking about the brand new rifles being made. I believe production started on these new rifles in 2010 or so, and are made by FN in South Carolina.

Here's my ham slammer in .22-250. With the bullet seated out to about .010" from the lands, it shoots under a half-inch for 3 off the bench at 100 yds. But, that overall length is too long to run thru the magazine, so I seat them to run thru the mag and get .9" - 1.0" groups.

The south Carolina guns are great guns....far better than the guns that were coming out of new haven, CT prior to moving to SC.

I have Model 70 featherweights in .243, .257 Bob and .270. All are great guns and drive tacks. Plus I love the elegance of the gun with its trim stock and Schnabel fore end.

I love the featherweight. I have always wanted to get one in .257 Bob, 7x57 mauser, 6.5 swede or some other mild caliber and put a glossy Leupy VX3 in 2.5-8x36. I think that is a great size scope and would make a very classic looking rifle.

I handled this gun the other day at Cabelas in Waco. I liked it more than the Kimber Montana. Felt like a better quality rifle.

my dad and i have matching m70 featherweights, mines 243 his 257 roberts, both with fixed 6 power leupolds on top. had Hill Country Rifles put new barrels and accurize them the first year HCR was in business, 20 years ago this year. Its by far my favorite gun and my dad will say the same thing. I have not re sighted that gun since it was given to me in 1996. its top notch quality and shoots lights out year after year. one you know youll pass down.

I have one, and love it. It's a great looking gun, and shoots good too. The only complaint that I have with it, is that the bluing seems to rub off and scratch very easily.
