Ruger precision rifle 6.5 creedmore question

Thinking of building off a ruger precision rifle. I am wanting a 6.5 creedmore but all I can find is a .243 in that offering. Since I planned on upgrading to a custom barrel could I but the .243 offering and just switch the barrel to a 6.5??? Would I need anything else other than the barrel to make it work?

Check out snipers hide on YouTube. He did a complete review and some simple am parts that make it an even more exceptional rifle

I don't the most about caliber changes but you would have to have the bolt messed with/changed and probably the chamber also. Head spacing on the 6.5 is different and what not.

I'll just say that (this could easily end up being a lesson for both of us) and let a more knowledgeable person chime in but it's not as easy as just switching the barrel

yes the 6.5 CM, 243 and 308 will all have the same bolt face so you could put a 6.5 cm on a 243.

My question would be why would you want to change out the factory 6.5 cm barrel for a custom? Factory barrel is super accurate. Not sure you would gain much with a custom.

I want a 6.5cm for the shooting I do- I can't find anyone who has that gun in stock- I found a .243 in stock and was thinking at some point I would put a custom barrel on the 6.5 anyway (barrel life is only 1000 or so rounds) so that might be a way to get the 6.5 now and be shooting if that makes sense

so the overall question was could I turn a RPR .243 into a RPR 6.5 by just changing the barrel

Gunbroker had the rpr in 6.5 creedmoor, I looked at them yesterday

Absolutely. New barrel and go/no-go gauge and you would be set. It is very similar to swapping a savage barrel or even an AR.

PM me if you are interested in a .243 Ruger Precision. I have one with about 125 rounds down the tube and shoots an easy 1/2 MOA.

for nearly 1500 before shipping and pickup not ready to drop that much coin on a rifle that when its in stock is much closer to $1000

And that's why I said it would probably turn in to a lesson for both of us

Is the bolt face really that similar? I know the parent casing of the 6.5 and similarities what not but figured their would be a slight enough difference to effect it.

Also I brain farted earlier on the chambering and have no idea why I said that. My apologizes, will keep my mouth closed for now on and do more reading/observing
