    Colt Gurus - Assistance Needed

I am going to sell a Colt Single Action Army (SN 130636). This is a late black powder SAA (Mfg. 1890 - 1896, ser. no. range 130,000-165,000). I have no idea how to price this thing and would like some help obtaining a value. There is a small scratch on the right side of the barrel and some bluing is missing at the end of the barrel and on the ejector. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Beautiful. Probably $2500-$3500. Looks like the grips were replaced.

No guru here, but I know just enough to know that you need to get a professional to look at it in person. Otherwise, you're just gonna get a bunch of swags.

Was it refinished? It appears to be. And that spot where the blue came off looks weird. It that's the original finish and it's made when you say, you can expect 5000+. I would call colt and spend the money on the letter for it. That will help you sell it and could add significant value if it was owned by someone important.

I can't honestly say if it has been refinished. It's been in a safe as long as I can remember. Thanks for the tip on contacting Colt. I will probably do that.

I'm not an expert but I have handled a few. If that is the original blue, you have a very nice piece. I don't think I've seen over 2 or 3 that nice with the original blue job.

Solid advice. If it hasn't been reblued it should be worth mucho dinero. You might try Collectors Firearms for an appraisal. I don't know what they charge but it would probably be worth it.

Collectors Firearms Inc was started in 1975. We have grown to be one of the largest if not the largest shop of it's kind. We regularly have over 12,000 guns and 500 swords in stock. We deal in all types of guns, new and used modern guns to antique guns.

I agree that it looks to be refinished. And grips replaced....since blueing is a rusting process,it would have changed color since 1889....and the case color should have faded more..and the flaked barrel just doesn't look right...
