I am taking my concealed carry class next month and was just wondering how many have actually been in the situation to pull your weapon? I have never been in a situation where I would need it but with today's world people need it more and more often.

I think it's called a "license to carry" now.

True story----
My girlfriends friend's "husband" got into a wreck recently. Well the folks who hit his truck pulled off! He took off following them. I guess in the process he called the cops etc. Well he caught up to them and drew on them while he cops showed. Arrested the folks who did the hit and run. Now he is facing charges because he pulled his gun on them which I agree he shouldn't of done.

Yes a citizen has the authority (not right) to arrest a person in several situations. I have never seen where that authority went into detention to investigate or violate other laws while making or attempting to make an arrest. It seems obvious to me that self defense is allowed in any "lawful" arrest but pursuit of a violator or using more force than is necessary might end up badly for the person claiming to make the arrest.
The old saying, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing" comes to mind.
