    Reloaders question

What could have caused this issue? Dude was sitting next to us on Saturday. Had to beat it open with a hammer and and then a hammer and ramrod down barrel to get it pushed out.

Could be that the shoulder wasn't pushed back properly.

Too much pressure. Whole lot of info needed to know what is causing the excessive pressure. Case neck could bee too long and wedging between bullet and barrel in the chamber.

Looks like a really over pressured case.

Case needed to be trimmed after resizing.

are you sure the brass/ammo in question was reloaded ? Did the shooter state whether he was shooting factory or reloaded ammo ?

I agree, lots of variables could have caused that problem leading up to a pressure issue ... wrong powder, not enough powder, to much powder, possible brass issue, shooting wrong ammo, etc....

                Hard to tell.
                Was it shot?
Or did it feel weird and you tried to eject?

What does the head of the case look like. Blown primer?

You can see where the case formed down around the bolt face causing a ring. Everything else about the case looked fine except for that ring that formed no idea if primer blew out he couldnt get brass off bolt since it molded to it. It was reloaded ammo for sure. There were no visible stretch marks bulges or splits in the brass other than the ring

This wasnt me by the way. The guy had shot 10-15 rounds before that one locked his gun up

I blew the pic up and I sure see the nase forced into the bolt. Lucky it wasnt a catastrophic failure. Could have hurt you being beside him. Never seen a case head like that. Severly over pressure. Maybe even a double powder charge. Everybody was lucky IMHO. That gun needs to be inspected.by a qualified gun smith.

My first guess would be that he had a partial powder charge in that one. Just a guess though. Does he weigh every load when he's loading?

I saw something similar since, a guy shot the wrong caliber ammo in a bolt gun, and it fired.
Seems like it was a 30-06 fired in a .280 rifle or something like that

Remington should get a Christmas card. That looks like it could have been catastrophic with the way that flowed into the bolt head recess
