Savage 204 insight?? Gun review questions

I bought a Savage B-mag last year and man, what a POS. I've had it back with Savage twice and this time they want to send a new rifle. I've talked them into letting me trade for something different. I've been looking over the Model 12 varmint and 11 Hunter. Anyone had any luck with the Savage's?

I had a Model 25 Walking Varminter 17 Hornet that I shouldn't have let go. It was a tack driver but ammo got scarce.

I'm really liking the 6.5 Creedmoor but think the 204 will do me better for a toy.

My dad has the model 12 varmint in 204. It shoots great especially for what he paid for it. It would be a lot better if I could get him stop putting these $100 scopes with the preset elevation turrets on it.

Yeah I'm with you on the scopes, kcnatural. I don't buy cheap glass. After reading more on the 204, I think I'm taking the Creedmoor route. Just don't know which Savage model I'll go with yet.

I have a LRP in 6.5 creedmoor. It's a shooter, but it is super heavy. Fun long range toy though.

Lungbuster, I don't think I'll spend that much on the gun. I need light for toting it around coyote hunting. That's good to hear that Savage can make a gun that shoots.

Just as a warning I had absolute hell with the savage 25 walking varminter that I had chambered in .204. Couldn't get the thing to shoot and was having issues with primer strikes etc... I have a thread on here from last year I believe, I sent it off to savage and they didn't fix the issue so I ended up selling it and getting a cz 527 varmint in .204 and it has been a dream. I also have a thread over it as well in the past 2 or 3 months or so.

I've got a 10/110 Predator in 6.5CM and it's about my favorite rifle. Absolute tack driver that matches or out shoots some custom rifles it's gone up against. It did have a little extractor issue when I got it; but that was a $50 fix at the gunsmith. Wasn't worth sending back, IMO. It frustrated me at first but it shot so well that I was afraid it's get messed up if I sent it to the factory. Lol.

It's not a "light" rifle but I take it through the brush while predator hunting AND I carry a shotgun, along with my call and chair. So it ain't THAT heavy. Either that or I'm stronger than I think, lol.

The B-mag was/is a piece of junk. I'd take them up on any of their more standard or premium lines. The LRP models shoot terrific as well but it is a really heavy rifle.

Got Savage to swap me the Model 10 Predator Hunter Max-1 camo in 6.5 Creedmoor for just a little more money. Hopefully have it this month.
