    25-45 or 6x45 question

Trying to decided between a 25-45 sharps or 6-45 ar but looking to see if anyone has any good reloading data on either one. I know there is some out there for the 6-45 but couldn't find much for the 25-45. What powders are you using for either one?

    6x45 ... no brainer

dies readily available, tons of reloading data from varmint hunters and competition shooters, and you don't need proprietary brass / dies

if serious, I'd look hard at DTECH as Mike's work is 1st class

6x45 is a no brainer. All you need different from a 223 is a barrel.

Black Hole Weaponry makes 6x45 barrels too.

I'm leaning heavy towards the 6x45 just for simplicity of availability.

I'm gonna try and revive this thread as I have been looking at these two calibers lately. They both can be converted from a 556 with just a barrel swap. Both use same mags, bolt, and all. They both have roughly the same velocities but the 25-45 has more energy. Ammo availability is better for the 6x45, but that doesn't mean much to me as I reload.
Anyone have an experience with both? Or as to why one is better than the other?

Ordered a barrel from Black Hole in 6x45 during the Shot Show.
                  Got it Friday.
                  Building the upper tonight.

No experience on the 25-45, but I love my 6x45! It is built on a Savage action and a 22" ER Shaw barrel. The H335 is pushing 85 grain Sierra GKs to just over 2700 FPS. I have taken around a dozen deer and TONS of pigs and coyotes with this combo. It is not flashy, but deadly... and one of my favorites!

Have you shot any large pigs with it? All head shots or have they done well with shots behind the shoulder and such?

I very rarely shoot pigs in the head. They are a great test medium for bullet performance. I am sure that I have shot some good size pigs with it, just can't put my finger on it. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot several dozen+++ pigs each year. This combo has shot a lot! Most 100-150 pounders have good size exits through the shoulders. I can't recall ever having to shoot more than once when I do my part.

Longest distance at a deer that I can recall is 236 yards. Good size doe - good exit - died within 20 yards. Pretty typical results...

Here is some of the 6x45's handy work...

Wow. You might just have me talked into a 6x45! I don't like shooting twice.

Any update. I'm leaning towards a 25-45 out of the 2. Ballistics look better than the 6x45.

Dunno about the 25-45 but I'm very impressed with my 6x45.
I had Black Hole Weaponry make the barrel 22 inches in the lightweight contour and its 1/8 twist.
Running 85 gr SGKs on top of BenchMark at 2900 fps and it's wickedly accurate.
