New Boyd's stock on Handi Rifle

Got this rifle a few months ago and am just getting to setting it up. had a Sightmark halographic on it and it shot well just fooling around. But the stock was too small for me. I loved the compactness of the rifle, but it just was too small. So my sons got me this Boyds stock in Pepper for Christmas and it FINALLY was delivered last week. I put it on tonite with the SWFA PEPR mount my cousin gave me. I have not checked if it is a 30mm mount. Because that is what is going on it. A Millet DMS-1 in 1-4x24mm scope. 30mm tube.
BTW. This is a special run by AAC in 300 BlackOut. Barrel is threaded 5/8-24
    What do you think?

Looks great! How's the fit and finish? I have a lipsey's 44mag trapper Handi that could use a better fitting stock. Especially around the grip to frame fit. I'd like to hear how yours fits before ordering or taking saws and sandpaper to the original stock

Had a Heck of a time getting the bolt through the stock to mate to the reciever. Had to file opening with a rat's tail and used the thinnest wall 1/2" socket I had with a 12" extension to make it tight. If you replace the forend, you will need to order a forend spacer from H&R(remington). A plastic part and 2 screws. That will cost you about $20.
The finish is great and it fits perfect. There are many options to pick from at Boyds. Mine is in pepper.
      Good luck.

Thanks for the review. How is the fit of the wood where it meets the receiver? I read about the needed spacer, but luckily I'm replacing a wood stock, so that part isn't needed (only for synthetic stocks). My stock to receiver fit looks like it was done at 1650 on a Friday afternoon!

I was worried that I might have to sand it a bit to make the contour of the stock mate perfect to the receiver. That wasn't nessa when I cranked down on the bolt head. The wood melted/molded into the receiver contour and mated perfectly. I am sure if I removed it there would be marks where the wood pulled into the receiver. Glad you do not have to purchase the spacer. It grinded my gears to have to spend $10 on that spacer and $4.95 ea screw$9.90(you need 2 screws, #6x3/4" sheet metal screw). I could buy 100 of those screws for $9.90 But that is Remington. They own H&R now.
This is my second Boyds stock. I put one on a Savage Axis that I won in a Raffle last year and it totally changed the feel and look of the gun.
The Axis stock is also in Pepper.

Looks very cool. You think you will be able to get a cheek weld with that PEPR mount? Looks like its gonna be super high.

Might need the height due to the scope that is going on it.
A Millett DMS-1 1-4x24 30mm tube. I tried low 30mm rings and it was too close to the hammer. Trying the PEPR. Have to drill and put the sling studs on it first before the scope.

Looks much better with the upgrade Tony. I have a Boyd's on my 10/22 build and love it.

Thanks for the answers. I see a thumb hole stock and forearm in nutmeg in the 44's near future. I already have the Burris Fast fire that's going on it.

OK boys...Finally had the time to set it up. My cousin gave me a 30mm SWFA PePR type mount. Put the Millet DMS-1 scope on it. Took the sling studs out of the factory stock. Measured and installed them in the new Boyds stock. Just mounted and laser bore sighted the scope. Coming with me tomorrow to the country to be shot. Have some Sig Sauer 220gr subs, Remington 120gr OTFB, Beck ammo 110gr Varmadgeddon, Hornady 110gr V-Max and one box of DRT 135gr HP. Lets see what she likes. I have to say, it sure is pretty. That stock changed the whole gun. Go Boyds!
