What scope for a 257 Weatherby

    Hey guys,
What scope would y'all recommend for a 257 Weatherby? I have a Meopta MeoPro 3.5-10x44 that is still looking for a dancing partner but would not be opposed to getting a higher magnification scope either. Curious what the TBH brotherhood thinks. (would like to keep the new scope at/around/under $1k.

    Thanks

I have a Nikon monarch 4.5-14x40 with the BDC reticle on mine. I've had it on there 5-6 years and won't ever change it out

      On my 257 I have a HD5 5-25X50 LT. I used to have a 4-14X50 VX3

        Dont buy cheap.
Clarity of glass is more important than magnification.

        I use a 3.5x10 Zeiss.

Awesome caliber. I'd put the Zeiss on it.
But the meopta has great reviews. I just never peered thru one.

                  Z3 can be for at/around $900.

But, how much better is a Z3 than a MeoPro?

Also can get a Zeiss HD5 for around about the same rice. Would y'all go Swaro or Zeiss?

Also, do y'all like their ballistic reticles? Or is it still tough to beat a German 4?

Swaro or Zeiss, it depends. Swaro glass is hard to beat, and the scope will be lighter. The HD5 has good glass it's heavier but offers more on the magnification range. Very tuff to decide.

For $1300 or so you can get a (used/as new) 5-25 Z5. I would go in the extra 300 on the glass. I have switched to the Z6i in 5-30 and they are awesome if you decide to STRETCH the budget.

Also look for a used Kahles in the magnification range you like. Next to the Z6i i love Kahles. I think I read Doug at CameraLandNY posted the other day he anticipated getting some Kahles demos in--I may be confused but check on that. Just hit me. It was S&B he hopes to get demos on. That would blow way past your budget obviously.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm hearing a little more love for the Swaro's.

Are Leica good? Haven't priced them, but from memory they get a lot of praise.

Meopta Meostar for $900 is what I would go with. German #4 and its on my .257 CDL.

I don't think you can beat Swarovski. I have heard similar things about Leica as another oft mentioned manufacturer here. Buy their binoculars--not their scopes.

My .257 WM has a Kahles Helia C, 3-12x56mm 30mm tube. Best scope I've ever owned.
