    Caution with .300 Blackout

While looking on Ramshot powder site, saw this article on possibility of chambering .300 BO in .223/5.56 chamber. Just a reminder to keep things organized since they use the same magazine.

Yep, definitely do-able. That's why my 300 gets only the FDE mags to match the furniture on the SBR lower.

Yes. I keep my .300blk in Tan Pmags and .223 in black Pmags

I use only short p-mags for BO and full length for 5.56

          I don't thin the 300 will chamber in a .223.
I do think the 223 might however chamber in a 300BO
I doubt the case and shoulder on the BO will fit in the 223 chamber and for sure the .30 cal bullet will not seat into the throat of a 223.

And here's the possible dangerous situation with a 300 in the .223 chamber:

Yep, the best thing about .300 BLK is its interchangeability with 5.56 guns, and the worst thing about .300 BLK is its interchangeability with 5.56 guns...

                    Wow!

Surprised we haven't heard about more blown up guns

I've never seen a 300 BO seated that deep. Seems like it's only going to happen in very limited circumstances. OAL In the referenced picture seems much shorter than anything I've ever seen. Since it is possible I guess we all need to be a little more careful. Thanks for the info.

Anything is possible, and caution is necessary, no doubt.

However, look closely at those pics again. The base of the .223 brass is flush with the end of the chamber. The base of the .300 AAC brass is sticking out the entire thickness of the rim. If the are going to post those pics as a fully chambered round, they should at least be fully seated the same. In this case, they are not.

                        All the best,
                        Glenn

You don't think the force of the BCG coming to battery could force the bullet to seat deeper?

its well known it can happen, in spite of what 300BLK Jesus preached to us when the round was introduced.

The very slightest Google-Fu ability will show you plenty of examples.
