    What caliber to build ?

Still can't make up my mind what ar to build . What I have so far is one complete lower and one stripped lower and parts to build it out . I'm leaning towards 6.8 spc on one and maybe a 450 bushmaster ,or 300blk or 7.62x39 . I have no upper parts yet . What do y'all guys think I should go with ?

If you want a close to medium range hog mauler, the .450 fits the bill. None have ever taken another step that I have shot with mine. The Nikon Slughunter scope makes a good companion also, as the ballistics are close enough to make the BDC reticle work well.

I love my 6.8 and the ammo has really dropped in price this year to make it pretty reasonable.

        In my opinion 6.5G > 6.8SPC and 458 SOCOM > 450 Bushmaster.

And obviously a 300blk if you plan on going SBR

Depends on how you plan to use the gun?
Fun. I'd build cheapest ammo 7.62x39/5.56
Fun to blow up with big recoil but cheapest reload would be 50 Beowulf
Hunting close range (under 150 yards) 7.62x39 or 300AAC
Hunting longer distances 6.5 or 6.8

          Only issue i have with 7.62x39, 6.5, 6.8 non-standard bolt
The 50 you'll need modified upper.

Again it all goes down to how you plan to use it.

Agreed. 458 Socom has a much better selection of bullets to load.

Another vote for 458 Socom shooting Barnes 300 grain Tipped TSX bullets. This round puts hogs down quick.

If you're going to sbr and/or suppress then 300 blackout. If longer range and full length rifle then 6.5 grendel. If for shorter range and tons of power in a full size rifle than 458 socom. They're all pretty good but for different purposes. I've got two 300 blackout SBR's, both suppressed and equipped with night vision. For short range and quiet the blackout is pretty awesome. I've taken a 400 lb + pig with it and didn't have a problem.

Blackout is the simplest because all parts are common to 5.56 except the barrel.

For now sbr is not a option .

I'd go 300blk if your building a 6.8 on the other.

I am doing a sbr blackout, with a suppressor first. 6.8 next. So, sbr not an option... 6.8
