Owning a business makes getting suppressor easier?

I was told this by a LEO buddy of mine. Can someone elaborate how this works? I was told that I could set everything up through my business. I'm wanting to jump into the suppressor world, but have no clue where to start.

I'll be doing some research over the next few days, but any help is appreciated.

Don't think a LLC has anything to do with it.

A trust or a CLEO is the only way to obtain one. I could be wrong.

It sure does. If you are an LLC or Corporation you can buy it through the company. No finger prints or photographs. Only downside is if you ever leave or sell the company your NFA items would have to be transferred again.

Thank you! That is what it sounded like he was saying. I own two different LLCs. So I could basically just walk I and buy a suppressor? Or is there an application process that I would have to go through?

        Thank again for the help!

No. You wait 4–6 months like the rest of us.

If it was that easy for corporations, we'd all be incorporated, bud.

Not saying anything about the wait...that came out wrong. Basically asking if there is any other process I need to go through before purchasing one.

The process is exactly the same as a trust.

Wait time is the same. Application is the same. Fee is the same. Process is the same.

The only thing you'd be saving is the few hundred bucks that it costs to set up a trust. It does have an advantage over buying it as an individual (no prints, pics, or CLEO sig) but when compared to a trust, it's pretty much identical.

Unless you already have an LLC or corporation that you control, a trust is simpler option for an individual. LLC and corporations have annual filing requirements with the secretary of state and comptroller. Don't do those and your entity gets suspended and you're now in possession of unlicensed NFA items.

I just set up a trust and it didn't cost a dime. Did a little bit (several hours) of research, drafted the document, and didn't have to pay the notary since i know one. Just have to send in a copy of my trust document with the form 1 when i build my SBR.
