    AR feature/ option questions

I never built an AR or even took one apart. i need to learn. if i need a trigger replaced, i have the guy replace it where i bought the trigger. Ive never looked at or been concerned with certain features like chrome lined barrel, bolt locking open after last shot, mil spec vs commercial... does any of that matter? is it necessary for the bolt to lock open after the last shot? whats the deal with a chrome lined barrel? are the barrels on 700 remmys chrome lined? what is mil spec vs commercial and why the different sizes?

Chrome lined barrels supposedly last longer, don't corrode and all that good stuff. So I guess they're better? The bolt locking back is just convenient in a situation where you have to swap magazines out. You can just put a fresh magazine in and slam the bolt forward.

Chrome lined barrels are supposed to last longer, but usually suffer in accuracy.

The bolt locks open on all ars on the last round.

Mil spec vs commercial is referring to the buffer tube on the stock. They are a little different in diameter.
