I recently got a new scope for my Remmy 700 .308, it is the tactical aac-SD with the 20" barrel. I was thinking about moving up to 180 grain bullets, I have been shooting 150's do yall think I will have any problems with expansion at longer ranges? I typically just use some form of lead tip soft point.

I shoot SST 180's in my aac. Great expansion out to 400 yards so far on pigs. They hit like a hammer, shot a big 200ish lb pig in the shoulder and he didnt move after he got hit. THe only bullet I recovered was in the one that was about 400 yards out and it held together nice, really good expansion. I was going to wash it and bring it home to weigh it but beers made me forget. All of the other ones passed through but big exits. Hand loaded over 4064 in Lapua brass.

You will reach the 1800 fps threshold around 475 yards. 1800 fps is the lowest velocity that most hunting bullets are said to to expand reliably.
