    Boyd's stocks

What are the pros and cons?

I'm trying to due a budget precision build... I think I'll be satisfied with anything less than .75 MOA at 100 with hand loads. I'm likely to order an ER Shaw barrel in .260.... Anyway, will this stock be that great. I can get some great looking stocks from them but I want to know y'all's overall experience.

I'm probably looking into the Pro Varmint(used to be the tacticool) with the rough textures black finish. Or maybe a thumbhole in nutmeg. Any close up pics of the quality would be appreciated.

I had one and thought their value far exceeds their price. They come drop in ready and fully finished.

You'll be better served by adding pillars and bedding the action then ensuring the barrel is floated. All easy to do with excellent illustrations on here, long range hunter and youtube.

You'll likely exceed your expectations of .75 with decent optics, loads and form.

As long as it is properly bedded then yes. I have 2 of them on my wife's rifles. They need barrel channel work and bedding but they are good after.

I like mine. Has a nice feel to it and seems to be made well. I didn't want to drop like a grand on a stock since I don't do any competitive shooting. Just wanted something accurate for me to play and hunt with. Started out as a normal savage 11 with their cheap flimsy plastic stock and pencil barrel. I'm shooting well under MOA with this now with factory Barnes TTSX. I did pillar bed it but haven't glass bedded around the action.

Edit: as the other above have said I did have to sand out my barrel channel to get my new barrel to fit. But was very easy. Dremel, a wooden dowel and some sand paper. Also had to do some work to fit the new bottom metal.

I've bought several over the years and have had no complaints. Glass bedding and floating the barrel is all I've ever done to them. Got a notification this morning that my newest stock has shipped. Stainless Remington 700 ADL 300 win stock with a limbsaver upgrade and the Forest Camo finish. The laminated stocks are a little heavy, so I wouldn't use one for a lightweight mountain type rifle.

Found a used Win mod 70 in the shadow model a few years back. I had to get a different stock asap (couldnt look at the stock it came with lol). Found Boyds online, found a lot of good reviews, quality for the $ etc. Bought one of their Classic models in Nutmeg, showed up right to my door within a couple weeks. Fit well but did need a little work that I got my smith to do for $30. It is a bit heavy but I really like it and would recommend their stocks to anyone. Cant figure out how to upload pics or I would show you

This is the Boyds I put on my Savage Axis. Top rifle in Pepper.
Waiting on another from Boyds for my Handi Rifle. They make some quality stuff, but it takes a while for them to either make the stock or ship it. Still waiting since early December for the Handi rifle stock.

I have one on my 10/22. The inlet was quite a bit over sized but that was nothing bedding couldn't fix.

Made my Marlin look leaps and bounds better. It the royal jacaranda pattern.
