    gun question

My sister in law was given a gun for Christmas to give to her son by her boss for free. Now her boss is acting a little "weird" wanting more then just boss employee relationship so she is getting a new job. She is worried he is going to try and take back the gun or claim she stole it ( he is a little crazy). So here is the question can she get the gun into her name without him knowing or if she has it in writing that he was giving her the gun for free can he get it back? It's her son's first gun and he loves it and doesn't want to break his heart. The kicker is it's a rem 710 lol. Anyways what are her options?

If it's in writing I would say no, he cannot demand it back. If a witness saw him give the gun to her then he cannot demand it back. If he gave it to her as a gift and demands it back and threatens to file a charge, then property ownership would have to be settled in civil court. I do not think there is any type of criminal case here.

If he gave her the gun there is nothing he can do ! in Texas there is no laws saying it has to be in her name.

Tell him to jump off the next bridge. No law in Texas requires you to register a gun, yet. He would have to have proof that she actually stole the gun. In this case, since he gave it to her, pretty sure she is good to go, no worries!

Your the uncle & bet he looks up to you...not gonna get much for a 710, but dump it & get him something he will eventually appreciate & grow old with and never sell.

Nobody keeps a 710 as an heirloom...big green should be kicked in the taint!!

Trust me...any kiddo tearing into a new package will forget the old one when he see's the better one.

Just give the gun back and move on.

Give the gun back, move on, and buy the youngster something like a Model 70 Featherweight---
