    Suppressor choice - need help!

Our trust already has an .30 Omega, a TBAC .30 Ultra 7 and a .22 Spectre II in jail; but we're considering 1 additional can, due to 41P. If we get another one it'll be an additional TBAC Ultra series because only want them for hunting and precision shooting and having 2 cans that use the same brake will be very handy. So, please keep your comments related to to Ultra series - I'm not interested in looking at another brand.

My question is whether a 1-3db (or even 5-6db) difference in sound suppression is even noticeable?

I'm trying to decide which Ultra to get. We shoot mostly 6.5 and smaller but I sorta hate being limited - that's why we ordered the Ultra 7 in .30. Now that we have a TBAC .30 can it would make a little more sense to order a 6.5 can. But when we looked at the numbers, there seems to only be a 5-6db level difference between all the 6.5 & .30 Ultra cans, whether it's the 9" or 7" models. I don't know if there's any noticeable/practical difference between them, as far as sound suppression? I like the idea of the shorter cans because some of our rifles already have pretty long barrels and adding a can will make them REALLY long, and cumbersome. Since we have 2 shorter cans already, I'd consider a 9" model BUT, again, there only seems to be a few db difference between the 7" and 9" models. Lol.

Hoping someone can help me with the info to make this decision.

If the barrel is 24" or longer for me can length is a consideration. Under 24" makes it more manageable. I don't think I can tell the difference in 5-6dB but the closer you get to the threshold of 140dB the more damage you are doing to your hearing. So IMO get the quietest you can that remains manageable.

Ok Mike. Gotcha. Here's the specs on those 4 cans. What bothers me is that there's no direct comparison - like the rating of a .260 Rem fired through the .30 Ultra 9" & 7" models. Am I to assume that there's NO difference between the .308 and the .260 fired through them? Would the extra 3db of sound reduction be worth limiting yourself to 6.5mm and smaller? Or is the difference so negligible that you'd stick with the .30 version? Just curious which one YOU'D add as a 3rd can?

      6.5 ultra 9" - 129db-131db (.260 fired)
      6.5 Ultra 7" - 131db-133db .(260 fired)
      .30 Ultra 9" - 132db-134db (.308 fired)
      .30 Ultra 7" - 134db-136db (.308 fired)
